Afterwards, he went to Los Angeles and performed in the theater for 8 years and then in tent shows. He had a major role in radio in Los Angeles, and in the late thirties, he appeared in Hollywood films, and in the early fifties, he worked in television. In 1960, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his radio work. He was married three times and had one child. Among his notable works are Shirley Temple's Storybook (1960), Just This Once (1952), and Swing It Soldier (1941). He died of a heart attack in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA on September 11, 1968, at the age of 68.
