Among his most important works are An Impossible Crime (1954), Diego Corrientes (1959), La boda (1964), and Maria Isabel (1968). He won the Spanish Film Writers and Critics Award for Best Actor in 1955 for Impossible Crime. He also won the National Syndicate of Spectacle Award in Spain in 1964 for Best Spanish Actor for La boda (1964). He married Maria Luisa Vazquez (1950-1981) and they had a daughter, who remained with him until he died. He died in Moreda, Spain, on August 6, 1981, following complications from a stroke, at the age of 61.
