She appeared on television in 1958, and in cinema in 1960, and specialized in supporting prominent British comedians such as Benny Hill. She gave up acting full-time in the early 1970s to raise her children but returned a few years later. Gwendolyn Watts died in England, United Kingdom, on February 5, 2000, from a heart attack at the age of 62.
