Syrian performer Qusay Al Khouly has revealed that he is currently working on a television series titled “Wiladah men Al Khassira” where he assumes the role of a man named “Jaber”. The television series takes another look at life amongst the poor, adding a different dramatic twist. Whereas traditionally such environments were associated with various societal ills such as drug abuse, infidelity, prostitution and otherwise this new television series departs from that customary outlook and attempts to arrive at a more realistic image.Al Khouly has further explained that his character is one who is forced to distance himself from his family and whose standard of living is below average. He is accused of a crime and is put in a position where he is forced to defend himself, his only concern becomes vindicating himself in the eyes of his family. Al Khouly’s character – “Jaber” – also has a daughter to support among other problems. Al Khouly also adds that the television series, the screenplay of which was penned by Samer Radwan, should in fact be considered three television series in one as it combines three integral elements. There is the drama element which is represented by the struggles of Jaber and those living with him in his district, there is the political element as represented by Raouf, and, finally, there is a host of societal problems that relate to upbringing, inheritance and interactions between father and son. Al Khouly believes that the work models the reality extant in the Arab World generally and in Syria in particular as is evident in some of the details present. Al Khouly adds that the work involved a great deal of effort in terms of choosing filming locations and accurately modeling social realities.Rasha Sharbatgy had commenced shooting the TV series recently after selecting 83 filming locations. Several Syrian performers partake in the work including Sulaf Fawakhargy, Saloum Hadad, Shakran Murtaggy, Mohamed Haddaqy and Fady Subaih. The series is produced by the “Clackit” production and distribution company in its second production of a Syrian drama following “Takhit Sharqee”, the screenplay of which was authored by Yam Mashhadi.
