Actress Ilham Chahine has expressed her puzzlement towards statements aired by several news networks attributed to Mohamed al-Baradei the former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). To this effect the performer has said: “I am deeply annoyed at Arabic and International satellite networks which have provided avenues for Mohamed al-Baradei to theorize and negotiate on behalf of the Egyptian people with European and American interests. Baradei may claim that he is allied with the populist movement however it is possible that he is trying to hijack this pure movement which seeks reform. Where was Baradei when the youths were assembled at Tahrir square? Baradei was present at the square only once and spent the rest of his time holding interviews and hosting sessions at his home.”The performer also added in tears: “Did Baradei give the Americans the go-ahead to bring down Iraq’s regime, one of the world’s most powerful nations, in exchange for being granted Egypt as a gift? I call on him not to interfere in our matters for he has been absent from Egypt for most of the time and I consider him an agent who is unwelcome amongst Egyptian society.”Elham further added: “I hope that the youths regroup and consolidate their powers and agree to dialogue so that the country could go back to normality without resulting in a state of destruction and chaos.”
