‘Ola Ghanem Recants Her Former Position and States: I Didn’t Know that there Were Those Who Were Severely Wronged in Egypt

In a reversal of her previously critical statements with regards to the revolution of the 25th of January, actress ‘Ola Ghanem has stated that she is pleased with what the revolution has achieved. She has also asserted that the revolution has revealed to her the extent of corruption prevalent in Egypt. ‘Ola had previously called on protesters camped at Tahrir to return home and had indicated that she had considered leaving the country because of them.The al-Dastoor newspaper has reported that ‘Ola Ghanem has stated that the revolution has revealed to her a host of problems that she was previously unaware of and that she could never have imagined that actresses Nadia Lotfy and Maryam Fakhr received pensions worth 380 and 350 pounds respectively.Thus, in a rather strange statement to the press, ‘Ola has stated that she had no idea that there were those who were wronged to this extent in Egypt.
