Egyptian actor and screenwriter Tal’aat Zakkariyah remains adamant with regards to statements concerning Egyptian youths that were protesting at Tahrir and involved in the revolution. Zakkariyah’s statements had annoyed and angered many but in an interview with “Aylaf” he had stressed that he had spoken only about what he had seen and had only made his statements in the interest of having the revolution succeed. Thus Zakkariyah had stated “I did not regret stating the truth which I saw with my eyes and thereafter declared to the public. My statements were misunderstood but I do not regret making them because they were clear and concise. I had stated that I saw that on one of the day when I went down to Tahrir. There were only a few protesters that day and I saw what I referred to. I was worried that the youths at Tahrir would be affected by it and so I warned people about it on television.”Tal’aat Zakkariyah also said that he is not concerned about the public’s reaction to his film “Sa’eed Harakat” because – as per his statement – he was not influenced nor did he change his opinions as others did.Worthy of note is the fact that the film’s producer, Mohamed al-Sobkky, has delayed the screening of the movie to a yet unannounced date.
