Actress Sabreen has withdrawn from the leading role in the television series “Asmaa bint Abou Bakr”. A search is currently ongoing for a replacement whereby director Hany Isma’il had stated that Sabreen withdrew from the work due to the fact that she is busy working on another television production with the Sawt al-Qahira company. The director also added: We have yet to settle on the filming date and on whether or not the production will be presented this year or will be postponed. Hany further indicated that he has completed all preliminary steps to filming and that he is awaiting the conclusion of the prevailing period of unrest so that he could start filming at the beginning of the upcoming month of April. Hany has explained that if he does not begin filming by then the production will not make it in time for the holy month of Ramadan. The director intends to use the coming period to search for another female lead that could portray the character of Asmaa bint Abou Bakr in lieu of Sabreen. The screenplay for “Asmaa bint Abou Bakr” was authored by Bahaa al-Deen Ibrahim. Hany Isma’il directs the work which is produced by the Production Sector. The title features the talents of Mohamed Riyadh, Tareq Lotfy, ‘Afaf Sho’aib and Layla Taher.
