The Censorship authorizes “18 days” after the deletion of indecent insults of a State Security officer to a detainee

Before screening the film commercially, the Egyptian Censorship Authority authorized the film “18 yowm i.e. 18 days” after deleting some indecent insults in the “19-19”segment written by ‘Abbaas abul-Hassan and directed by Marwaan Haamed. Events occur in a State Security prison; a police officer reprimands a detainee with abusive language that cannot be allowed to pass in the film, according to al-Shorouk newspaper.Dr. Sayyed Khattab, head of the Egyptian Board of Censors, said that the film contained indecent language that cannot be accepted. The segment director confirmed that he will delete the insults in order not to offend audience; he also confirmed that he was thinking of muting the insults and leaving the scene silent to convince the audience that there is a kind of unacceptable humiliation by the State Security officers toward political detainees. The film “18 days” is a compilation of ten segments of short films directed by 10 filmmakers with several visions and stories about the Egyptian Revolution, which began on January 25, and led to the eventual resignation of President Muhammad Hosny Moubaarak on February 11.The film, directed by Yousry NasrAllaah, Kamla Abu-Thekry, Marwaan Haamed, Mariam Abu-‘Auf, Shereef ‘Arafa, Muhammad ‘Aly, Khaaled Mar’y, Ahmad Abdullaah, Ahmad ‘Alaa and Sherif Bendaary is starring twenty actors among them are; Youssra, Mona Zaky, Ahmad Helmy, Khaaled Abul-Naga, Aasser Yasseen, Baassem Samra, Hend Sabry, ‘Amr Waaked and Muhammad Kareem.Worth mention, the release date of the film is not yet decided.
