Producer and distributor Mohamed Hassan Ramzy stated that he had expected the success that the movies that played during Eid achieved. Although Egypt is supposed to be going through a cinematic and economic crisis, yet the revenues for the movies played during Eid were almost 16 million pounds. In an interview with Al Masry Al Yoom newspaper, he said that all five movies played during Eid were comedies, which is something that would attract the Egyptian population after indulging for so long in strenuous political events. As for his opinion about why the movie “Al Haram Street” made the most revenues independently equal to all other four movies. He said that Eid was like a mini cabaret, and the winner is the one who offered a bigger dose of dancing and singing. He added that the audience for the Eid movies are completely different to those in the normal times. The majority of the audiences in the Eid are teens and children who want to spend their money doing and watching something fun and joyful. So in conclusion, a good movie playing in the Eid period might generate fewer revenues as opposed to a bad movie playing in the same time.
