An auction in London for Naguib Mahfouz’s letters and writings

On the occasion of a centenary passing by for the anniversary of his birth, several film festivals and cultural periodicals in 2011 focused on celebrating and honoring the great Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz, where its being repeated now in the English capital London, where Sotheby’s auction house is organizing a public auction for some papers written in his handwriting.These unpublished papers stories and incomplete literature work, in addition to some letters all written by him ranged as the department of the auction amounted it between 50 to 70 thousand pounds as an open selling price.The auction will be held on Thursday 15th of December and is expected to see a large turnout of interested parties, whether Arabs who are in the City of Fog or city citizens themselves, who got his writings translated and expressive as the best expression of a country they never seen.The hundredth anniversary of Mahfouz’s birth is tomorrow Sunday 11th of December, where he was born on the same day in 1911, and lived a tumultuous 95, he managed to become the most influential and successful Egyptian writer before he died in 30th of August, 2006.
