According to close sources from Whitney's family to "People"'s magazine, Costner is set to lead the tributes to his friend and pop star Whitney Houston at her funeral on Saturday in New Jersey.Costner was very close to Whitney's family during those tragic times and has been calling them every hour for emotional support. He also helped in the funeral's arrangements.Whitney and Costner go way back, twenty years ago, when they co-starred in the highest grossing film, The Bodyguard, in 1992. The film was about a famous singer, Whitney, who was threatened of murder and hires Costner as her bodyguard but they fall in love. The film made 400 million dollars and since then Costner has been a close friend to the Houston family.Whitney was found dead in her Beverly Hilton Hotel suit at the age of 48 and her body was returned to New Jersey for the funeral.
