Press Conference for the new film "MUD" was held today in Cannes Film Festival, attended by director Jeff Nichols and stars of the film Reese Witherspoon and Matthew McConaughey. The film is about a group of teenagers who try to help a criminal get back to his lover and escape from those who pursue him.Reese talked about that she never accepted this kind of roles; however she accepted this role as it takes place in the south of the United States of America which is an area that rarely gets attention in films. She said the film reminded her of her childhood in Tennessee where she used to fish with her sister.Matthew talked about his character Mud, who is a dreamy criminal afraid of getting back to real life.Nichols claimed to base the plot on a Mark Twain story, saying that when you steal you should steal from a really smart person. This marks his 3rd film based on a novel, while he assured that Twain is one of his favorite writers. He added that the theme of his film is love.
