National Society of Film Critics: "Amour" is Best Film of 2012

According to Reuters, The National Society of Film Critics named the French-language film "Amour" as the Best Film of 2012, which makes it one step closer to receiving the Oscar for Best Film in a Foreign Language. A group of 60 prominent film critics from newspapers, magazines and other media channels chose Austrian director Michael Haneke's sensitive illustration of an aging couple at the end of their lives.

The society awarded Best Actress to Emmanuelle Riva who played the ill wife in the Haneke's film. Haneke himself received the Best Director award for his masterpiece.

Meanwhile, Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for his role in "Lincoln," which was directed by Steven Spielberg, in which he portrayed the late U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, who is considered by many the greatest president in the history of the United States of America.

Actor Matthew McConaughey won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in "Magic Mike" and Best Actress in a Supporting Role went to Amy Adams for her performance in "The Master".
