Comedy beats horror in the US Box Office with "Identity Thief"

In its week debut, the comedy "IdentityThief" managed to make 36.5 million dollars and take its place on the topof the US box office. "Identity Thief" is directed by Seth Gordon andis about is a business man who hunts a woman who stole his identity and itstars "Bridesmaids""s star Melissa McCarthy next to Jason Bateman,Amanda Peet, John Cho, Jon Favreau and Robert Patrick.

The newcomer comedy pushed last week's no. 1the horror film "Warm Bodies" to second place which made 11.5 millionlast week. This week's second new comer "Side Effects" debut at thirdplace with 10 million and is currently participating in the competition of BerlinInternational Film Festival.

"Silver Linings Playbook" takes onestep down to fourth place with 6.9 million dollars this week where its directorDavid O Russell just received the BAFTA for best adapted screenplay.

Going down from second place to fifth thisweek is "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" by adding 5.7 million toParamount making his total gross so far 43. Million dollars and coming in sixthplace is the horror film "Mama" which added 4.3 million to its grossmaking a total of 64 million so far in its fourth week in theaters.

The controversial and Oscar Best Picturenominated film "Zero Dark Thirty" went down to seventh place with 4million dollars this week, whereas BAFTA's Best Film "Argo" went upagain the box office with 2.5 million to eighth place and having a total grossof 123.7 million so far in its 18th week in theaters.

Quintin Tarantino's "DjangoUnchained" lands in ninth place with 2.2 million where Quintin justsnatched the Best Original Screenplay at the BAFTA two days ago. Finally,Sylvester Stallone's "Bullet to the Head" continues its disappointingjourney and slopes down from sixth place to tenth this week with just 1.9million in its second week in theaters.
