Steven Spielberg named Jury President for 66th Cannes Filmfest

Following Tim Burton, Martin Scorcese, David Linch and Klint Eastwood,great director Steven Spielberg is named Jury President for the 66thedition of the Cannes International Film Festival.

Spielberg, who is no stranger to Cannes after winning Best Script for"The Sugarland Express" in 1974 which was also nominated for the Palmd'Or, was asked several times before to head this position by Gilles Jacob,President of the Festival de Cannes, but he was always busy shooting a film.

This year, after finally saying yes, Spielberg said his first experiencewith Cannes was through his masterpiece "E.T." which represents oneof the most spectacular moments in his career and said that heading the Jurycommittee of Cannes is considered one of the most important positions in hiscareer since this festival is always determined on discovering unusual filmsand talents.

The 66th Cannes is taking place between 16 and 23 May.
