Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton, 52, is now the new face of Chanel's pre-fall Paris-Edimbourg collection.

The fashion house's creative director Karl Lagerfeld said, "Tilda perfectly embodies the Paris-Edimbourg collection. She is of course Scottish, but more than that she is a modern woman, a timeless icon of elegance."

Swinton, who now resides in the Scottish port town Nairn with her partner Sandro Kopp and their twin sons, won an Oscar in 2007 for her performance in " Michael Clayton." She is set apart from other leading women not only by her powerful performances but her androgynous beauty.

The fashion campaign, which was shot by Lagerfeld at the Chateau d'Ecouen, will come out in fashion magazines this coming June.

This isn't the only major news for Tilda this week: she teamed up with pop icon David Bowie in his music video for " link."
