"Harry Potter" leading lady Emma Watson is in talks to play the title role in Disney's upcoming live-action "Cinderella," which the production house decided to move forward with after its success with "Alice in Wonderland" starring Anne Hathaway and Johnny Depp.

Variety is reporting that Watson, 22, would be the Cinderella to Cate Blanchett's Evil Stepmother. British director Kenneth Branagh is also attached to the project. "Twilight Saga: New Moon" director Chris Weitz has signed on to write the script.

The next few years are looking bright for the young British actress who, following the end of the "Harry Potter" franchise, starred in the heartfelt "Perks of Being a Wallflower" and has signed on to play the lead role of Ila in "Noah" about the Biblical figure starring Russell Crowe, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly, and Anthony Hopkins.
