" Jack the Giant Slayer" topped the American box office this week, raking in $27.2 million. Its opening numbers disappointed producers though, as its budget hovered around $200 million. Bryan Singer ("X-Men") directed the film, which stars Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Ian McShane, Eddie Marsan, Bill Nighy, and newcomer Eleanor Tomlinson. "Jack" will open soon in Egypt at the Vodafone IMAX Theater.

In second place is the stolen identity comedy " Identity Thief," which topped the box office last week. This week it added $9.7 million to its pot o' gold. It's raked in a total of $107.4 million, making it the first film in 2013 to break the $100 million seal. Following "Identity Thief" is what some are calling "The Hangover" for younger guys, "21 and Over," which made $8.7 million by the end of last week.

Dwayne Johnson's "Snitch" slipped back from second to fourth with $7.7 million this week, bringing its total makings up to $24.4 million since opening three weeks ago. "The Last Exorcism" is in fifth place with $7.7 million this week.

"Escape from Planet Earth" fell back two spots to sixth in its third week in theaters. It made $6.6 million this week, bringing its total up to $43.1 million. The Nicholas Sparks adapted romance "Safe Haven" also slid back two spots into seventh with $6.2 million this week.

Marathon-runner "Silver Linings Playbook" is still making the top ten box office list despite having been in theaters for 16 weeks now! The film, nominated for eight Oscars, has brought in a total of $115.3 million, not to mention the Best Actress Oscar for its riveting star Jennifer Lawrence. In eighth place this week, "Silver Linings" made another $5.7 million. Bruce Willis' big comeback "A Good Day to Die Hard" could have fared better: it made $4.5 million this week and dropped from fifth to ninth place. Lastly, "Dark Skies" comes in at tenth with $3.4 million.
