link," is about to take on a new kind of role: key player in a new CBS comedy from " Scrubs" producer Tad Quill. The gig would be Broderick's first regular TV job.

The still untitled project revolves around Jack, who after losing his wife, becomes solely responsible for raising their 12-year-old son while also facing the daunting world of dating. The show, to be directed by James Burrows, was allegedly developed and ordered to pilot three years ago, but was dropped for lack of a strong lead, according to Deadline.

Broderick keeps buys, mostly in the realm of theater. He can currently be seen in the Broadway production of "Nice Work If You Can Get It," and has made guest appearances on " Modern Family" and " 30 Rock."
