Avengers director Joss Whedon has stated that production on "Avengers 2" is scheduled to start in 2014. They'll be shooting in Britain's Pinewood-Shepperton studios, where " Thor: The Dark World" was just shot.

"The Avengers 2" is slated for a summer 2015 release, and will mostly likely see the return of Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson.

The first film shattered box office records, raking in over $1.5 billion worldwide. It made $207.4 million in its opening weekend, dethroning previous record holder "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" ($169.2 million). It was also nominated for the Oscar for visual effects.
