Jessica Chastain's critical and commercial success with " Mama" has perhaps encouraged the Oscar nominee to venture further into the genre of spooks and terrors. She's just signed on to star in "Crimson Peak," to be directed by "Mama" executive producer Guillermo Del Toro.

It's still unclear which character she'll be playing, but she joins Emma Stone, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Charlie Hunnam in what Vulture called the "palest cast in cinema history." The only details out are that the gothic horror story revolves around a woman who discovers her husband is not who he appears to be.

Production is slated to begin next February. It'll reunite Chastain and Stone, who co-starred in the feel-good historical drama " The Help."
