50% of Justin Bieber's Twitter Followers are Fake

Outlets are now reporting that half of Justin Bieber's Twitter followers are bogus accounts, according to a new report.

Bieber become the most-followed person on Twitter this year, which is now being challenged by the new report from link. The report claims that 45% of his of his followers are fake, meaning they follow less than 50 accounts, have less than one follower and never tweet from their own accounts. Many of the fake accounts use spam phrases like "diet," "make money" and "work from home."

This brings Bieber's previous record 37 million followers down to 17.8 million. The report repositions the Twitter pecking order, making Lady Gaga the most-followed person on Twitter. 19 of her 35.9 million followers were determined to be real.
