Funnyman and champion of press freedom  Bassem Youssef has announced that his show El Bernameg will take a break during the month of Ramadan. The show, which airs every Friday, will resume after Eid el Fitr. The last episode before the break will be on July 5th.

Bassem informed his 1.5 million Twitter followers on Saturday "there are four episodes left, the last episode of El Bernameg will air on July 5 before Ramadan, and then we'll resume El Bernameg after the Eid, God willing."

In the last episode, Youssef tackled President Mohamed Morsi's most recent scandal, in which the President and a number of political figures, including Ayman Nour, threw around ideas to sabotage Ethiopia's dam project, unaware their conversation was being aired live on national television. The gaffe was heavily criticized by opposition forces and various media outlets.

Morsi's team was also ridiculed for the lack of basic coordination, which should have cloaked the meeting in complete secrecy. The televised meeting has drawn the ire of many within Egypt and abroad.
