Yesterday Basma delivered her first child, welcoming into the world a baby girl with her husband, the famous politician Amr Hamzawy. The couple named the baby Nadia, and the pair have been receiving well-wishings and congratulations from businessmen and artists.

Basma expressed earlier her desire to have a baby girl, while hoping at the same time that she would be able to defend herself in the future and protect her rights as a woman in a society that tends to marginalize women's rights and roles. That was before Hamzawy announced on a live show that Basma was pregnant and that they were expecting a girl. Basma and Hamzawy got married in February 2012.

In other news, Basma is also making a guest appearance in the show "El Da'eya," which she had to shoot as quickly as possible so that the baby bump would not appear on camera. On the show, she joins Hany Salama, Riham Abdel Ghafour, Ahmed Fahmy, Ahmed Raten and Safaa el Tokhi. The show is written by Medhat El Adl and directed by Mohamed Gamal Eladl.
