Bradley Cooper has signed on to voice the character of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's anticipated " Guardians of the Galaxy," due for an August 2014 release. He joins his ex-girlfriend, Zoe Saldana, as well as Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, and Karen Gillan in the comic epic about a pilot, Peter Quill, who gets stranded in space and has to assemble an oddball team of aliens to protect the galaxy from cosmic threats.

The character was created in 1976, and according to Wikipedia was originally inspired by the Beatles' song " link."

Meanwhile, Cooper is currently in talks to star in a Lance Armstrong biopic, and he's getting ready for his "American Hustle" to come out in theaters. It's his third collaboration with director David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence after "Silver Linings Playbook," which earned him his first Oscar nomination.
