Mossad Fouda, chairman of Egyptian Cinematic Syndicate, said in an exclusive statement to that he phoned all the members of the Egyptian delegation at the Malmo Arab FilmFestival in Sweden to ask them about what truly happened in the last three days in Sweden. The Egyptian attendees of the festival told Fouda that the groups behind the harassment of the Egyptian artists belong to the Palestinian movement Hamas, headed by a man named El Sheikh Abu Ahmed.

Fouda noted that the festival chairman, Mohamed Kablawy, carries the Palestinian nationality and his handling of the incident was a major disappointment, as he cosily stood by talking with those groups who intercepted the Egyptian artists. In addition, the head of Egyptian community in Sweden was even more reluctant to react, Fouda said. He added that he expected this lackadaisical handling from the Egyptian ambassador as he, the ambassador himself, was appointed by the former president Mohamed Morsi.

Some of the Egyptian attendees decided to return to Cairo, while others preferred to stay in Sweden to continue with the festival's events. Among the artists who stayed are Said Fouad, Amir Ramsis and Lebleba, who is part of the festival's jury. Fouda also said that there is a trend among Egyptian artist to boycott the festival's future editions. The syndicate also intends to organize a press conference for the attendees of the festival to explain what happened there.
