Today in Toronto: "Omar" and "Don Jon" are Screened under Special Presentations, "Osage County" is Premiering

Under the Special Presentations section at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Palestinian film “Omar” was screened today. The movie was directed by Hani Abu Assaad, and previously screened at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the special jury award for the “Certain Regard” section. It's about the Palestinians experience in the Israeli prisons, highlighting the daily lives of Palestinians in love and resistance. The movie stars a number of young and new talents.

Also under the Special Presentations section, Scarlett Johansson's “ Don Jon” was screened. The movie is the directorial debut of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also co-stars in the movie with Johansson.

Premiering at Toronto today is Meryl Streep and Julia Robert's “ August: Osage County.” The movie is about a family crisis that occurs to the Westons which brings two strong women back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in and to meet the woman who raised them.
