Egyptian Artists Demand a New Constitution, Focusing on Freedom of Thought and Creativity

's camera was present in the press conference made by the arts syndicates union and the fifty-member committee (responsible for amending the Egyptian constitution), in order to discuss articles that are expected to be added to the new constitution.

Interviews were made with a number of artists who were present for discussion and to state their opinions about what the new constitution should offer for Egyptian art and the freedom of creativity.

Among those interviewed was Mohamed Abo Dawood, who stated that the union wrote a long memorandum regarding articles in the constitution, and that the union won't just focus on articles related to arts and freedom, but will be concerned with the whole picture. “There will be more discussions in the near future, and the union should be always present ” said Khalil Morsy, while director Omar Abdel Aziz talked about the union's desire to aid in the writing of a brand new constitution, a totally different version of what was written during Mohamed Morsy's reign.

Mossad Fouda, chairman of the film and television workers syndicate, stated that he and the syndicates union fully support director Khaled Yousef, who represents the syndicates in the fifty-member committee.
