The Hollywood Reporter website has announced that Martin Scorsese's latest film “ Wolf of Wall Street” won't be ready for its scheduled 15th of November release, which limits the film's chances of participating in the next Oscars.

Insiders revealed that the current cut of the Leonardo DiCaprioled drama is 180 minutes long, and that Scorsese is now discussing ways to shorten the film's running time with the producers (Paramount and Red Granite). Sources added that Scorsese and the producers are hoping the film would be ready for a Christmas release, which is a suitable time to catch the Hollywood awards season, and which will also make Paramount push back the opening of “ Jack Ryan” from Christmas to January. However, If the film didn't make it on Christmas, it will get another release slot next year, but either way, it won't be ready for a screening at the next New York Film Festival.

“Wolf of Wall Street” is based on Jordan Belfort's best-selling memoir. Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hillco-star in the film, among others, while Chris Pine stars in “Jack Ryan”, the upcoming thriller-action directed by Kenneth Branagh.
