Taylor Swift, Eminem Top Youtube Music Awards

Inthe award ceremony for the first Youtube Music Awards, which took placeyesterday in New York, Eminem was crowned artist of the year before performing a word-perfect versionof his new lung-busting tour de force “Rap God,” from his new album "TheMarshal Mathers LP 2."

Taylor Swift won the "YoutubePheomenon" award, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won the"Youtube Breakthrough" award. Video Clip of the Year was awarded toGirls Generation for "I Got A Boy."

Thenominations for the Youtube awards are based on the view count of songs on thewebsite, and the number of likes and comments, plus the number of subscriberson the artist's channel.

The ceremony was hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts, and was directed by Spike Jonze, who screened video clips for artists among the audience like Lady Gaga.

A number of singers performed theirsongs on stage, among which Lady Gaga performed "Dope" for thefirst time.
