Disney Breaks its Own Box Office Record Thanks to Thor and Iron Man

Helped by the recentacquisition of Marvel, Walt Disney breaks its own record of $3.7Billion in 2010. Marvel's “ Thor: The Dark World” opened no. 1 atthe American box office and earned $348.5 million since itsinternational release.

Iron Man 3,” anotherMarvel production, has collected over $1.21 billion making it theyear's top grossing film. With the help of Pixar's “ Monsters University” and “ Oz The Great and Powerful” the productioncompany crossed the $4 Billion line.

Disney has three more filmsto release this year: “ Delivery Man," “ Frozen” and Tom Hanks'“ Saving Mr. Banks.” it's own record, achieved in 2010 was due tothe release of “ Toy Story 3” and “ Alice in Wonderland,” bothcrossing $1 Billion in gross. It's not likely to last though asCaptain America and “Guardians of the Galaxy” coming next yearand The Avengers sequel in the next one.
