Berlin Film Festival To Award Ken Loach in Its Its Honorary Golden Bear

Berlin Film Festival's curators andmanaging committee decided to award the British director Ken Loachthe honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement.

Ken Loach is known in the U.K. For hisBBC drama that was centered on a middle class family that was loosingits home. His films include “Kes” (1969) and the Cannes' Palmed'Or winner of 2006 “ The Wind that Shakes the Barley.”

“His profound interest in people andtheir individual fates, as well as his critical commitment to societyhave found expression in a variety of cinematic approaches,” saiddirector Dieter Kosslick.

The festival will be held from the 6thtill the 16th of February.
