Supermodel Naomi Campbell mournedNelson Mandela, saying that he gave her “a reason for being”during times of personal difficulty.

Campbell has become one of Mandela'sHonorary Granddaughters after they forming a close bond with him andworking on a number of charity projects. “he was much more thanjust a figurehead to me - he was my mentor, my honorary grandfather,my Tata,” she said on her Facebook page.

From the other celebrities mourningMandela, TV presenter Oprah Winfrey, who was inspired by Mandela toopen an all-girls school in South Africa. In an email to EW.com shewrote about Mandela :”He was everything you've ever heard and more- humble and unscathed by bitterness. And he always loved to tell agood joke. Being in his presence was like sitting with grace andmajesty at the same time. He will always be my hero. His life was agift to us all."

Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown alsoremembered the late legend posting a photo of of the Spice Girls withMandela and commenting: “what a soul,what a man,may he rest inpeace,I will never forget our conversations and never forgethim,today is a sad day for me."
