“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” Tops U.S. Box Office for the Second Week in a Row

The second part of Peter Jackson'strilogy “ The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” remained on top ofthe American box office list with $31.4 million with a domestic10-day gross of $127.5 million.

In its first weekend “Anchorman 2:The Legend Continues" settled for second place with $26.7 million and$40 million in gross.

Disney's animated picture “ Frozen”came in third, adding $19.1 million to its gross and came slightlyabove the coming in full force next week: “ American Hustle” whichalso collected $19.1 million with a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes,David O. Russell's reunion with his favorite actors will not staythere for long.

Tom Hanks' “ Saving Mr. Banks” camefifth with $9.3 million. The movie about Walt Disney's struggle toconvince Mary Poppins to adapt her novel has an 81% rating on RottenTomatoes.

In the lower half of the list “ The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” followed by “ Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas” and “ Walking With Dinosaurs 3D” in eighth place witha $7.3 million although its relatively high cost that went beyond $80million.The hindi flick “ Dhoom 3” cameninth while “ Thor: The Dark World” which passed the $200 millionmark domestically.
