Plaints Committee Authorizes Public Screening for “Asrar Aa'eleya,” the Film to Hit Theaters Soon

After a furious battle between the makers of “ Asrar Aa'eleya” (Family Secrets) and the Egyptian censorship system, headed by director Ahmed Awad, caused by the later's refusal to approve the film's rights for public screening unless 13 scenes were deleted (that were unsuitable with Egyptian traditions according to them), and after producers of the film took refuge under the censorship's plaints committee, the committee finally announced its decision to authorize the film's screening.

After the film's crew refused to answer any questions related to the topic, reports stated to that the film, out of which the censorship demanded deleting 13 scenes, has been authorized by the plaints committee after director Hany Fawzy requested the modification of only two scenes from the aforementioned 13.

The director will soon be working on both scenes according to the notes provided to him by the plaints committee, for the film to be theatrically released in Egypt as soon as possible.

Family Secrets stars the new face Mohamed Mahran, who plays the role of a young homosexual man, in the film that follows the dark emotional side of the man's life and the persecution he is subjected to because of his deviation from social norms and traditions.

Salwa Mohamed Ali, Emad El Raheb, Tarek Souleiman and Passant Shawky also co-star alongside Mahran in “ Asrar Aa'eleya,” which was written by Mohamed Abdel Qader and produced by Ihab Khalil.
