'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Reaches Top Ten on All-time Box Office List

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has kicked out and replaced Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest from the list of the highest-grossing films of all time at the U.S box office, landing at number ten.

The film took in $423.6 million, topping Dead Man's Chest, which made it to the top ten with $423.3 million.

It is the first time the the first two installments of a franchise have grossed over $400 million each. The Hunger Games grossed $408 million domestically, two years ago. In addition to its domestic record, Catching Fire earned $439.4 million worldwide, to reach a total of $869 million, 25 percent higher than the first “Hunger Games,” which brought in $283 million from abroad.
