Set in Alexandria during World War II, the story depicts the unstable conditions of a number of the city's inhabitants as well as their intertwining lives. At the heart of the story, Yehia, a teenager who is fond of acting, comes of age as he tries to prove himself and thinks about traveling to America to study acting despite his parents’ difficult circumstances.
The first installment of Youssef Chahine's biopics, it tells the story of a high school student living in Alexandria in the midst of the second world war and who wants to study acting in the United States.
