After the revolutionaries attack the Mountain of Druze in a revolt against the Ottoman soldiers, the Turkish authorities issue an arrest warrant against the family of Fahd Al-Atrash who eventually flees the country to Damascus.

Alia Al-Mundhir, Asmahan's mother, stays with her three children at Beirut, while Fahd is stationed on the mountain with the mujahideen against the French occupation. Due to the french authorities' constant interrogation of Alia, she and her children flee to Egypt.

Alia reaches Egypt where she lives in a humble section of Cairo with her children and does laundry and sewing for a living. Meanwhile, Amal is enrolled in a school, Farid works as a delivery boy, and Fouad, who objects to his mother's and sister's career in dancing, works at a factory.

Farid Al-Atrash gets an offer from Mary Mansour to play the lute in her club, and he reluctantly accepts after she offers him a salary of 20 pounds per month. Fouad still perceives his mother's prosperous career in singing a shameful practice that besmirches the good name of Al-Atrash family.

Mary Mansour asks Farid Al-Atrash to sing along with playing the lute. Meanwhile, Alia and her children decide to move to another neighborhood, and things start to look up as Asmahan signs a contract to record her first song. Fouad travels to the Mountain of Druze to visit his father.

Upon his return, Fouad learns that Asmahan is going to record her first record, so he insists on accompanying her. Asmahan leaves school to focus primarily on her career as a singer, and she prepares for her test before the Columbia Committee.

Asmahan signs the contract with Columbia to record her records, and she lands a great opportunity to sing in the Royal Opera House, which brings her to the notice of the musician Mohammed Abdel Wahab who offers her to work in the cinema.

Talaat Harb Pacha tries to get Asmahan and Farid Al-Atrash to sing in his estate. Meanwhile, Mary Mansour tries to get Asmahan to sing with her in the club. A journalist proves that Asmahan is Asmahan of the Druze, which complicates the family's situation in Egypt.

After information about Asmahan's origin is leaked, Fouad travels to the Mountain of Druze to inform his father, and the latter disowns them all. Prince Hassan Al-Atrash promises to come to Egypt to settle the matter.

In the nightclub, Prince Hassan hears Asmahan's angelic voice and instantly falls for her. He proposes to her and she accepts. They get married and move to the Mountain of Druze as Asmahan tries to adapt to her new life on the mountain with her husband.

Asmahan gets pregnant, and she wallows in fear and suspicion as she fears the fortune-teller's prediction might come true and she might die during delivery. She tries to abort, but she fails, so she asks her husband to return to Egypt to give birth while her family is around.

Asmahan returns to Egypt where she has left her daughter, and in Egypt, she stays at the Mena House and communicates to Mohamed El Qasabgi that she's nostalgic for the good old days she spent with her companions.

Asmahan revolts against the traditions and decides to live her life as she pleases; she starts smoking and drinking alcohol, and she acts against her banning order. News of her nightlife gets to the press, and the news goes so far as to reach her husband in the Mountain of Druze.

Prince Hassan recommends that Asmahan and he go to the Levant to appease her, but she is still haunted by her early-death obsessions. Asmahan's family dispatches a telegram informing her of her mother's illness.

Asmahan returns to Egypt to check on her mother, and a sweeping sense of boredom penetrates as she ponders over her married life; she loves her husband, but he has always been detached and preoccupied. She gets back to singing and she records new songs.

Asmahan gets divorced, and she excessively indulges in her nightlife to the extent that Mohamed Abdel Wahab one night begs her to return home and get some rest. Farid, meanwhile, is busy concluding the deal for his first movie with producer Gabriel Telhami and director Ahmed Badrakhan.

Mohamed El-Tabii and Asmahan get closer and she stays up late at his house one night, which leads her brother Fouad to beat her up due to her reckless behavior. Asmahan decides to move out as an act of independence.

El-Tabii refuses that Asmahan travel with him on the same ship on the leisure trip. World War II breaks out as Farid and Asmahan are busy preparing for their movie.

Farid and Asmahan start filming their movie Victory of Youth, while Alia is concerned over the renewal of their residence. Asmahan leaves the Mena House and returns to her mother, and her relationship with the head of the Royal Court, who is also involved with Queen Nazli, strengthens.

Queen Nazli issues a decision to deport Asmahan from Egypt, but Mohamed El-Tabii intervenes on her behalf, and he manages to get her residence renewed for a year.

After her brother Fouad severely beats her, Asmahan flees the house, and Fouad reports her disappearance, but the Commissioner of Cairo is assured when he hears her voice on the phone. Ahmed Badrakhan proposes to Asmahan, but they marry in secret due to legal complications.

A short period after their marriage, things between Asmahan and Badrakhan get dramatic as he is upset that people merely reduce his existence to being Asmahan's husband, not the director Ahmed Badrakhan. They eventually have a divorce.

In a ceremony organized by the American University, Asmahan meets an official who asks her to travel to the Levant to convince the Druze, the Atrash, and the Bedouin tribes to allow the British forces to pass through their lands in order to overthrow the Vichy government.

Asmahan travels to Jerusalem in complete secrecy, and she manages to meet with her ex-husband and her uncle who accept her proposal provided that the French authorities announce Syria's independence and that Asmahan return to Hassan.

Asmahan manages to convince the leaders of the passage of the Free French Forces led by Charles de Gaulle, and she returns to Jerusalem disguised as a slave, and then she returns to Hassan Al-Atrash and becomes the Princess of the Mountain of Druze.

Due to some disputes with Britain's Secret Intelligence Service resulting from Asmahan's grave mistakes, the large salary she is paid is cut off. Simultaneously, Asmahan experiences tension in her relationship with her husband to the extent that he prohibits her from leaving Beirut.

Desperate and helpless, Asmahan attempts suicide once more, and Hassan decides to divorce her on the condition that he takes Kamellia and Alia back to the Mountain of Druze. Asmahan meets an important official and converses with him about the difficulties of her return to Egypt.

Asmahan lands the starring role for the movie Passion and Revenge, and she meets the producer and director Ahmed Salem who proposes to her two days after they meet, but they experience various difficulties with paperwork.

With Salem's help, Asmahan manages to obtain a visa to enter Egypt. The couple get back together, but that results in more trouble than they initially anticipated.

The British Secret Intelligence Service try to recruit Asmahan, but she refuses. Things between her and Salem get more intense that he actually takes out his pistol and threatens her. Asmahan dies tragically as her car falls into water bringing about her demise.
