As the Hajj calls his family to the lawyer's office, he asks the lawyer to divide his lands and properties among them. Al-Maheidy is dissatisfied with the process and tries to figure out how much each of them is entitled to. The Hajj decides on a monthly allowance for his siblings.

When Derisiya meets the elderly Al-Kabira, the latter informs her that the Hajj has divided his properties among his children, a notion that upsets Derisiya. As the Hajj meets with his children in his sister's house, the latter asks Al-Maheidy to look after the land.

With the election season approaching, one of the candidates throws a banquet for the people of the neighborhood to secure their votes. Al-Maheidy quarrels with his father and demands that the latter make Al-Maheidy's share of the inheritance clear to his siblings.

As the parliamentary candidate meets with members of the ruling party, he points out that the neighborhood is in dire need of a hospital rather than spending the money on renovating the mosque. Al-Maheidy is opposed to the idea of marrying his cousin, the daughter of his late uncle Al-Zahy.

As the season for reaping grapes arrives, the Hajj runs into his nephew at the market. Al-Maheidy rejects the advice of his friend Alal to get married.

Al-Maheidy considers buying a cow but changes his mind when he learns of its steep price. Hajj Ahmed decides to wed Al-Maheidy to another one of his nieces. As the family prepares for the wedding, Al-Kabira shows up for the celebration.

As the women of the family clean up Al-Maheidy's apartment for his upcoming nuptials, Sa'dya asks Ahmed for her share of the inheritance. Ahmed tries to assure Sa'dya that her inheritance is safe. Al-Maheidy continues to work in the field right up to his wedding.

When Ahmed asks Al-Maheidy to give his cousin her share of the land, Al-Maheidy refuses, leading to a quarrel with his cousin. Khenetha asks Ahmed to be fair to his late brother's daughters.

As Sa'dya's aunt falls ill, both the doctor and Sa'dya try to help her. Unfortunately, their efforts prove unsuccessful as the aunt dies after asking Hajj Ahmed to take care of her nieces. Al-Maheidy consults with Alal on his decision to plant some barley.

Thinking that his disabled daughter is hiding money from him, Besh'eib quarrels with her and ends up pushing her into the well. Alal visits Hajj Ahmed after he learns that no one is taking care of him.

Ahmed's loneliness leaves him devastated. Al-Maheidy puts all his focus into taking care of the land and cultivating it, though he remains resistant to giving his cousin her share of the inheritance. It's revealed that Alal is enamoured with Al-Maheidy's cousin and wants to wed her.

As Sa'dya gives birth to a girl, the townspeople show up to offer their congratulations. While there, Al-Fakih meets Al-Maheidy's aunt, Halima, who gifts the newborn baby some golden jewlery.

After a conversation with his niece, Al-Tayka, Hajj Ahmed decides to leave the house of the family that has been hosting him since he left his son's house. Al-Kabira gathers the tribeswomen in the field for a chat.

Al-Maheidy tries to rape his cousin Al-Tayka but Ahmed manages to save her. Al-Maheidy tries to justify his actions by claiming that her wish to wed from outside the family gives him the right to deprive her of her land. Al-Maheidy and Sa'dya forcibly take Al-Tayka to their house.

Al-Tayka refuses to eat anything despite Sa'dya's attempt, but Alal manages to get her to eat. With Sa'dya's help, Al-Maheidy plots to deceive Al-Tayka and get her to give up her share of the inheritance to him.

Fed up with Al-Maheidy's greed and his wish to have all the money to himself, Ahmed quarrels with his son, especially after he sees the latter beating Al-Tayka. Ahmed decides to move in with his other son Besh'eib, but Al-Maheidy continues to try and take advantage of him.

Ahmed grows wroth when he learns that Besh'eib is a drunkard who often leaves his daughter hungry. As Ahmed returns to his house, Al-Tayka and Alal visit him and try to help him after he takes a fall. Al-Kabira is saddened to see the condition Ahmed is in.

When Besh'eib protects his father from a robbery attempt, Ahmed decides to write a part of the land over to him, which angers Al-Maheidy. Alal confesses his love for Al-Tayka.

As the Hajj makes some amendments to his will, he manages to ensure that neither of his sons could take charge of the land until after his death. He also restrains Al-Maheidy from taking any unilateral decision regarding the land. Al-Tayka tries to figure out a way to get her inheritance.

Besh'eib and his wife rummage through the Hajj's things until they find the deeds for the land. As the Hajj's sister makes the trip from the city to visit her siblings, Hajj Ahmed goes to meet her.

The Sheikh asks the party's leader to build a new mosque, but he favors renovating the old mosque and building a clinic. As their aunt arrives at Al-Maheidy's house, Al-Tayka is thrilled to see her.

As the family gathers for lunch in Al-Maheidy's house, Besh'eib's daughter quarrels with them and runs away. As the party's leader launches his electoral campaign, the tribesmen ask him to help with the problems their fields are facing.

Ahmed vehemently opposes the proposals put forward by the party. Al-Tayka meets with Alal who proposes to her, but she refuses due to her preoccupation with the matter of her inheritance.

Al-Kabira and Al-Tayka finally wed, and she asks to return to Al-Maheidy's house so that she could get her inheritance. Her aunt promises to help her get the inheritance.

As Al-Maheidy's debts accumulate, his house is foreclosed and sold in an auction. The police are called to prevent Al-Maheidy from entering his house. Al-Tayka enjoys an amicable relationship with her husband.

Al-Tayka and Alal buy Al-Maheidy's house and kick him and Sa'dya out. As Al-Tayka finally receives her inheritance, Alal takes charge of cultivating the land. The family rejoices when Al-Tayka gets pregnant.

As Ahmed falls ill, he starts hallucinating and mistakes Sa'dya for Al-Tayka, leading him to reveal the location of the deeds. Ahmed recovers, only to find out that the deeds are missing since Sa'dya stole them.

As Ahmed looks everywhere for the deeds, Al-Maheidy throws him out of the house. Al-Maheidy tries to have the deeds put in his name but the lawyer refuses to help him. Al-Tayka confesses that she used to be in love with Al-Maheidy.

When Sa'dya sees Al-Tayka talking to Al-Maheidy, she plots with the latter to beat Al-Tayka in order to abort her. Hajj Ahmed intervenes to save Al-Tayka who is rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

As Al-Tayka passes away along with her baby, Al-Maheidy kicks Alal out of the house and forcibly seizes the land. The devastated Alal visits his wife's grave before leaving the tribe. Ahmed sets the crops on fire and disappears into the city.
