Hayat asks Khaled to meet him because of her passion to hear his life story, especially since he was her father's companion in the war against colonialism and witnessed his death. She admires his distinctive personality, but she does not tell Farida about that.

Khaled tells Hayat about the reason he drew his first portrait of a Tunisian woman who works as a nurse. He tells her how he went to Tunisia and met her granny Zahra, as he asked her that he register the baby instead of her father who cannot come, and he went to the municipality and registered her.

Hayat tells Khaled that her granny knew about the death of her son El Taher, after whom the state named a street, and about her brother Nasser, who left his studies and worked on a transport truck, and that she went to France after her granny's death to complete her studies. Hayat tells Khaled that she is going to travel to Algeria to spend the summer vacation there, and he is very sad because of his attachment to her, even though the exhibition ended, as he used to meet her in a restaurant. Hayat calls Khaled from Algeria and he feels he misses her a lot.

Hayat returns from Constantine and Khaled introduces her to Ziad, who comes to France and stays with him in his apartment. As Hayat admires Ziad, Khaled is jealous of their closeness, as his relationship with Hayat goes downhill. Ziad asks to meet her alone in the cafe and she accepts.

Khaled goes to an area far from Paris to get away from Hayat and think carefully about his feelings, especially after he felt jealous of her relationship with Ziad. Hayat keeps asking Ziad about him, and asks to meet him when she learns he has come back.

After Farida writes to Nasser since she loves him and is happy to reconnect with him after Hayat's conversation with him, he calls her from Algeria. Ziad travels to the battlefront to join the war. When Khaled meets Catherine in his apartment, Hayat finds out, so she gets angry and jealous as she loves him.

Khaled remembers fighting against French colonialism in Algeria and helping the revolutionaries to kill soldiers. Khaled gives Si El Sherif, Hayat's uncle, a portrait he drew of his brother, the martyr, and he welcomes him. Hayat is happy listening to Khaled's war adventures.

After Ziad is martyred during the war in Lebanon, the news comes to Khaled as a bombshell, and both he and Hayat grieve. As Ziad has left his bag in Khaled's house, Hayat asks him to get rid of it, while hesitates for the sake of their memories.

When Khaled finds Ziad's notebook in the bag and asks Si El Sherif to publish the poems in it to commemorate Ziad, El Sherif agrees. As Khaled also finds a book of Hayat's that doesn't have a signature, he feels angry and jealous, accusing her of loving Ziad too.

After Hayat travels with her uncle to Algeria to prepare for the wedding, she calls Khaled and invites him, but he asks her why she agreed to marry Mustafa, even though he is deviant. Khaled travels to Constantine and stays at Malik and Atika's house. Hayat's brother rejects her marriage.

Khaled meets Hayat's brother. Hayat is sad because she will marry Mustafa, and Farida fails to convince her to back off. Khaled attends the wedding and admires Hayat, who wears the traditional Algerian dress, wishing she were his wife.

Hayat marries Mustafa and Khaled congratulates them, after which Hayat feels that she is unhappy with her husband, who is cheating on her with his girlfriend. Khaled goes out for a walk with Hassan in the streets of Constantine, happily remembering the historical monuments.

Khaled discovers the love affair between Nasser and Farida, while Mustafa imposes himself on Hayat to consummate their marriage, but she rebuffs him, so he beats her in the hotel. Nasser goes to his uncle El Sherif's house to talk to him about Farida.

16th Episode

Hayat returns with Mustafa to Algeria and meets Khaled, who tells her that she looks sad, but she doesn't reply. Furthermore, she quarrels with her brother and tells him that she pretended to be Farida while texting him. Sherif turns down Nasser's request to marry Farida and kicks him out of the house.

As Si El Sherif agrees to Farida's marriage to Nasser after learning that he will inherit a fortune, he tells his daughter that Mustafa was the one who convinced him. After Hayat faints and enters the hospital, everyone worries about her and goes to visit her. Katya visits Algeria and meets Khaled.

Hassan quarrels with Farida and asks her to write him letters because he knows that it was not her who wrote to him, but Hayat is especially surprised by his reaction. Khaled meets Laila, Ziad's ex-fiancée, and tells her about his martyrdom, whereupon she gets very sad.

Mustafa beats Hayat and rapes her because she asked him to divorce his first wife. Hayat asks Mustafa to work in a magazine, but he refuses and decides to establish a magazine for her. Hassan secretly marries Farida, in the presence of Khaled, which angers Sherif.

After Laila is arrested for her antiregime writings, Khaled goes to Mustafa to intercede for her. As Laila is released, Mustafa becomes concerned about the matter and mentions her name in front of Hayat, who remembers her. Khaled reconciles Farida and her parents, then returns to Paris.

Sherif sells his share in his mother's house and Nasser gets angry because the new buyer is coming to live with him in the house. Farida discovers she is pregnant. As Hassan is arrested on charges of forming an antiregime gang, Mustafa mediates to get him out of prison, while Farida disappears.

Farida travels to Algeria and meets Nasser, who is very happy to see his son. Hayat refuses to publish Laila's article at Mustafa's request, so she gets angry and withdraws when she learns that she has met Ziad in Paris before his death. Katya discovers Khaled's relationship with another woman.

As someone monitors Laila, she hides in the house of Hassan, who traveled to Paris to get the car that Khaled gifted him with. Hayat quarrels with Mustafa because he always cheats on her and she is tired of his behavior. Khaled is still going out with his new girlfriend.

Sherif finds his daughter's address and is saddened by her condition. Mustafa refuses Hayat's request to mediate to redeploy Hassan from his work. Khaled's girlfriend tries to commit suicide because he does not love her, but he saves her. Hayat continues to work in the magazine despite receiving threats.

Abdel Qader travels with Laila to Paris and they meet Khaled at his house. Hayat publishes her book, which she was dreaming of, and faces all the difficulties so that the magazine doesn't get closed; Khaled is happy for her, only for an explosion to take place near the magazine, but she survives.

Hayat tells Khaled about Mustafa's corruption and that he is against the Algerian revolution. The assassination of a Rai singer in Constantine coincides with the killing of Abu Jihad in Tunisia and the emergence of the Takfiri Brotherhood movement in North Africa. Hassan asks Mustafa to be redeployed.

As things flare up more in the Algerian streets, Mustafa asks Hassan to talk to the students about submitting to the ruler and asks the imam to mollify the worshipers. Farida worries about Nasser because of his sadness and her ignorance of his affiliation.

Hassan is appointed as a media journalist, but his wife does not like it, while Nasser fails to dissuade him from his wish to be redeployed. Hassan is treacherously killed while on his way at the hands of the Brotherhood, whereupon a sad Khaled decides to return to Algeria.

Finale

As Khaled decides to return permanently to Algeria, he bids farewell to the owner of the restaurant and his girlfriend Katya. He settles with the children of Hassan and Atika, and remembers all the people close to him who died, which makes him feels sad. Mustafa is dismissed from his position.
