Tim Conrad (Paul Rudd) is a mid-level executive trying to make his way up the ladder of success. Impressed by his recent ventures, Tim’s boss ushers him into the inner circle by inviting him to a seemingly ordinary dinner party. Tim quickly learns that these dinner parties are anything but ordinary and that those attending are required to bring along an eccentric guest. In fact, the dinners are a sort of a competition. At the end of each dinner party, the most eccentric guest receives a trophy while the executive who had brought him wins something even more significant – glory and respect. Given the fact that moments before meeting Tim, Barry Speck was trying to retrieve a dead mouse that was lying on the road – Tim comes to the conclusion that Barry is his perfect dinner guest.
