As'ad quarrels with his father because he doesn't want to join his brother and fight against the French army; he just wants to marry Aziza.

When Aziza's father rejects him, As'ad tries to kidnap her but fails. As'ad runs away with Noury. Meanwhile, Hassan's mother is grief-stricken when she receives the news that her son was martyred.

As'ad and his cousin rent a room at Abu Rashid's, but the latter refuses to get them jobs. Master Abdo is upset when he notices that the fishermen prefer Master Gamil to him.

Abu Rashid eventually accepts to let As'ad work with him. Master Abdo attacks Gamil and tears apart his net.

Abu Hamza brings Abu Laila the weapons to use against the French colonizers. Umm Belal (Belal's mother) suffers from her husband's stinginess with her and their children.

The merchants are upset when Mourad Bey levies a tax on them. Abu As'ad (As'ad's father) passes away. It turns out that the merchants have been donating to help the revolutionaries.

As'ad and Noury stay with Abu Mohamed. Belal runs away after he beats up Abu Tanous. Layal's mother takes advantage of As'ad's love for her daughter.

Abu Tanous ruins Master Gamil's boat. Gamil asks Abu Khalil to watch over his boats with Abdel Qader's help. When As'ad's attempt to rob Abu Rashid fails, he frames Noury for it.

Layal's mother threatens her when Layal decides to marry As'ad. Abu Rashid learns that As'ad and Hassan are brothers. Na'iem, Abu Khalil's brother, returns home, and he decides to wed his daughter Christine to his nephew Khalil.

Abu Rashid forgives Noury. The French Army seizes Umm Hassan's house, and she goes out to search for her son As'ad.

Abdel Hady is rushed to the hospital when As'ad beats him up and steals his money. Mourad Bey offers Umm Hassan (Hassan's mother) a job.

The fishermen refuse to work with Master Abdo. Abu Tanous and his men set fire to Gamil's boats, but Abdel Qader stands up to them. Abdel Qader is kidnapped. Gamil suspects it is Master Abdo behind the incident.

When Abdel Qader vanishes, Gamil reports his disappearance and accuses Abdo. Abdo vows revenge.

Horiya searches for her husband and threatens Abu Tanous. Gamil is freed and he grows suspicious of Mourad Bey. Layal runs away when As'ad abandons her.

When Abu Rashid is robbed, Noury is wrongfully accused.

Abdo's men beat Abu Khalil up. It turns out that Belal and Gamil work together to pick off the French soldiers one by one.

With his money stolen, Abu Rashid sells his properties to pay off his debts. As'ad starts working with Master Gamil. It turns out that Abu Gamil is Abdo's spy.

Kamel is shocked to learn the truth about his lineage. Abdo kills Abu Tanous when he learns he was a traitor.

It is revealed that Mourad Bey has his son locked up. As'ad leaks information about Gamil to Abdo. Gamil offers to wed As'ad to his sister, Wahiba.

Abdo accuses Gamil of killing Fahd. As Gamil's men quarrel with Abdo's men, Abdel Qader gets injured. As'ad and Wahiba get married.

As'ad becomes Abdo's spy and tells him that Abu Rashid asked Gamil to buy weapons for the revolutionaries.

Horiya burns Abdo's boat, and her husband leaves her when he suspects that she is cheating on him. However, she refuses to divulge the truth to Gamil.

As'ad tries to take advantage of Wahiba. As'ad informs Mourad of the date of the weapons shipment. The French Army shoot at Gamil and his men, and Gamil is martyred.

Upon Gamil's death, As'ad inherits his fortune. Umm Hassan looks after Mourad's son, who has been imprisoned for so long.

Mostafa searches for his son Kamel. As'ad seizes Gamil's money.

Mourad learns that As'ad is Umm Hassan's son, and that he has only brought destruction upon his village. Mourad decides to recruit As'ad.

Yasser tells Abdel Qader that Horiya is faithful and that she has been defending him, but he refuses to believe it.

Abdo learns that it is Abdel Qadaer's wife who burnt his boat. Umm Hassan learns that her son As'ad is a traitor, who caused Gamil's death.

As'ad's mother confronts him. Abdo kidnaps Abdel Qader but Horiya helps him and sets him free. Abdel Qader begs for Horiya's forgiveness. Abu Belal goes mad when the mice eat his money.

Salma refuses to marry As'ad in secret. As it becomes known that As'ad is a traitor, his own mother shoots him dead for his corruption and treachery.
