Wendall Baker's dog, Junior, is played by Brother, Luke Wilson's dog. On the DVD commentary Wilson claims that no one thought Brother was up to the part but that he always believed Brother could do it.

Luke Wilson hired his mother, a professional photographer, to take stills on the set. When Mrs. Wilson saw that photographer Mark Seliger was also taking stills she demanded that Seliger be fired. Instead, Luke fired his mother. According to Luke, the crew was unhappy about this and brother Andrew Wilson rehired Mrs. Wilson.
