Two motorcycle clubs clash after one raids a warehouse that belongs to the other. Jax's mother worries that he doesn't have what it takes to carry on the legacy of his late father, a founding member of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club. Jax's ex-wife is going through a critical childbirth operation.

The SAMCRO members deal with the aftermath of the raid which pits them against the new deputy police chief. Tara confronts Gemma about the heroine that almost killed Wendy and puts her baby's life on the line.

The members of SAMCRO get embroiled in the hunt for a rapist. As they plot to have rifles smuggled into Charming, Clay gets incriminating evidence against Elliot to use as blackmail material if needed.

Clay incorporates another motorcycle club into their charter to combat the threat from the Mayans. The bad blood between Gemma and Tara leads the former to issue Tara a warning.

When a familiar face shows up in Charming, Jax and Opie settle an old score with him. The club gets entangled with the Chinese mafia.

When an arms trade goes south and leaves a police officer dead, Clay is arrested and Jax scrambles to hide the rest of the rifles from ATF agents. Tara's ex-lover, Agent Kohn, learns about Tara and Jax's relationship.

Kohn crosses the line out of jealousy over Jax and Tara's relationship, leading to a confrontation. When three dead bodies are found, Clay tries to spin it as an act from the Mayans, but the truth soon comes to the surface.

Kohn gets entangled in the biker war by providing information about SAMCRO's ties to the IRA to the Nordics. Tensions come to a head between the Mayans and SAMCRO as the Mayans attempt to kill Clay.

Alvarez and Clay come to an agreement to stave bloodshed, but not before Alvarez makes a sacrifice to placate the members of SAMCRO. Hayes makes SAMCRO a tempting offer.

SAMCRO faces heat as Agent June Stahl sidelines their allies and comes down on their women in an attempt to turn them against each other. Jax undertakes a daring mission to combat the results of Stahl's ploy.

Stahl enacts a plot to turn SAMCRO against Opie in an attempt to get the club to implode from within. Jax faces a difficult choice that puts his loyalties to the test.

Clay's machinations and manipulation lead to tragic consequences that threaten the stability of SAMCRO. Hale and Stahl have a falling out over the latter's role in the death of an innocent woman

Clay deals with the aftermath of his actions as war brews between SAMCRO and the One-Niners. Jax scrambles to prevent more murders as he comes to realize the lengths Clay is willing to go to and the need for a change in SAMCRO.
