When her mother dies in a car accident, the midwestern Sara moves to Chicago with her father as they reside in a predominantly neighborhood of Afro-American people where Sara soon falls for Derek as they share their passion for dancing.
A traditional ballet dancer joins the Juilliard School in hopes of fulfilling her life-long dream. But luck has something else in store for her when she is introduced to hip-hop and a young composer, both urging her to question her true passions and whether her choices are authentic.
