As two rebels are killed at the hands of imperial soldiers, their two sons are rescued by six pugilists, who later decide to raise the boys apart and train them in martial arts, then have them reunited as adults to see who is a better fighter.
In an attempt to seize the Nine Yin Manual from Guo Jing, Ouyang Feng holds Huang Rong captive, after which Guo and Hong Qigong rescue Huang Rong, and to exact retribution, Guo hands Ouyang a fake manual, which causes Ouyang to train on different skills.

Huang Rong is injured during a battle at the Iron Palm, and Guo Jing takes her to a swamp house in which a strange woman named Yinggu resides, who tells him that the only person who can save Huang Rong is the previous ruler of Dali Kingdom who has become a Buddhist monk.
