The daughter of the Hajj wants to get married after being fed up of her father who doesn't let go out or work. Murad, who is a talented painter but cannot find a job, his friend asks him to marry Fatuma, so he goes to know her opinion.

Murad's mother is taken aback when he tells her that his friend wants to marry Fatuma, while his wife is angry because he does not let her go out to work, and tells him that she is educated unlike his sister.

As Murad's wife is happy after the doctor tells her that she is pregnant, the Hajja is glad, but Fatuma is jealous of her. A high-ranking man goes to the Hajj and offers him money to help him win the elections.

As the Hajj gets sick and is bedridden, a young man proposes to marry Fatuma. The Hajj's health deteriorates and dies, and the Hajja grieves over him, especially when he entrusts the children to her.

After the Hajj died and left the shop, Murad quarrels with his brother over who is going to manage it because he refused and wants to travel to the city. The Hajja loses her gold and starts looking for it in the room to no avail.

Murad wants to immigrate to France or America because he cannot find a job in Morocco, and he quarrels with his wife and slaps her, while the Hajja tries to console her. Hajj Abdul Salam, is doing his election campaign in El Darb.

The election campaigns are held in El Darb, as everyone tries to win the most votes. Murad's relationship with his wife is deteriorating. The Hajja decides to open her husband's shop again, and her daughter blames her. Murad gives money to a guy so he can take him to France.

The Hajja works in the shop and Zaydun tries to deceive her, but El Mahdi stands by her. As Muhammad loses in the elections, he goes to the bar and gets drunk, and his wife and mother try to calm him down.

The Hajja meets with the workers and asks them to help her so that the shop becomes better than before, and Murad tries to show his mother how the goods are being sold. Muhammad goes to buy new clothes and tries to change his appearance and travel to Casablanca.

Fatuma finds a magic spell in the house and tells Murad, who confronts his wife with this, so she quarrels with him and he beats her, so she leaves the house. Fatuma goes with her husband to the lawyer to look into the inheritance issue, and the Hajja refuses to divide the inheritance.

The Hajja's younger son wants to get married and asks his mother to help him financially. As for Murad, he also asks his mother for money so that he can travel. Mahdi and Fatuma decide to live alone and leave the family home, but her mother warns her not to go.

As Fatuma and her husband leave the house, her mother grieves a lot. Murad disappears and the Hajja asks her younger son to look for him. Muhammad's daughter runs away from home and her father locks her in the house when she returns. Fatuma steal her mother's gold and goes to the jeweler to sell it.

El Mahdi mistreats Fatuma after he took money from her and wants to buy the Hajja's shop. Fatuma's brothers blame their mother for not wanting to divide the inheritance. Muhammad goes to Casablanca to meet the candidate for the elections.

Murad decides to stay in Morocco and not immigrate to France. The lawyer tells the Hajja that the Hajj had borrowed money from El Mahdi and that he mortgaged the shop to him, much to everyone's surprise, since El Mahdi does not have the money and has no one.

Murad's wife gives birth, while Murad wants to go home, but he is ashamed of what he has done. El Mahdi demands his money from the Hajja's lawyer. Fatuma returns to ask for her mother's forgiveness. Muhammad's daughter becomes a dancer in the nightclubs in Casablanca.
