Mahrousa's husband and son die in an explosion that leaves her other son Hamza in the ICU. As their neighbor Sayed supports them, his unfaithful wife Naema plots to steal his money.

Mahrousa has trouble opening a kiosk to provide for her family. Her son Abdu starts a new job. Naema steals the money Mahrousa got as compensation for the accident.

Mahrousa's brother-in-law refuses to help her after she refuses to marry him. Mahrousa starts work as a maid. Naema runs away after she steals Sayed's money and accuses him of beating her. Mahrousa's kiosk gets approved.

Sayed kills Naema and gives Mahrousa money before he escapes. Nagwa goes to college. When Hamza is wrongfully arrested, his friend Hatem's father gets involved to save him.

Hamza works at a greenhouse. Abdu continues to be a thug. Mahrousa helps the imprisoned Sayed.

Mahrousa kicks Abdu out. When Abdu helps Azza at her place, her husband Farag starts to suspect them. Sayed is released and decides to get Abdu away from the troublesome gravedigger.

When Azza gets Abdu involved in her attempt to get a divorce, Abdu refuses to listen to Sayed who advises him to stay away from her. Abdu and Mahrousa reconcile. As the family celebrates Hamza's grades, the cops arrive to arrest Abdu.

Abdu is sentenced to a year in prison. Azza visits him and informs him of her divorce. Hamza gets close to his wealthy classmate Rania.

In prison, Abdu and businessman Hassan Masnour grow close after Abdu does him a favor. Mahrousa falls ill after she is robbed by some thugs.

Hassan sends Mahrousa to do a medical checkup at a hospital. When he is released, he asks Abdu to come see him when he gets out. The tests show that Mahrousa is fine. Sayed proposes to her but she refuses him.

Abdu is released. Sayed is upset that Mahrousa rejected him. Abdu and Azza grow close as Abdu tries to open another kiosk. Hatem proposes to Nagwa.

Mahrous advises Nagwa to tell Amir about their financial situation. Abdu decides to quit his life of crime and start anew with Azza. Sayed marries Khairat. Hamza is sad that he didn't get a teaching job at his college.

Amir discovers the truth about Nagwa's family. Hamza and Rania grow close. Azza sets Abdu up to force him to marry her in secret.

Hamza falls for Rania. Hassan asks Abdu to exact revenge on those who had him imprisoned. Abdu quarrels with Mahrousa over her interference in his relationship with Azza.

Sayed divorces Khairat. Abdu discovers that he is the reason Hamza couldn't get his dream job. Mahrousa tries to reconcile Sayed and his son.

Abdu starts working in Abd Al-Aziz street. Hamza discovers that his manager stole his greenhouse designs. Nagwa grows close to her teacher's assistant, Hesham. Hamza introduces Rania to his mother.

When Amir asks Nagwa to take him back, Abdu finds out about their relationship. Hamza breaks up with Rania as he starts working in a tourist village.

Amir tells his father that he wants to marry Nagwa. Abdu asks Mahrousa to move into a finer apartment to look good in front of Amir's family. Hamza proves himself in his new job.

Sayed decides to open a kiosk. Mahrousa discovers that Abdu is reselling outdated government papers. Abdu forces Mahrousa to sell the kiosk. Amir changes his mind about marrying Nagwa when he discovers that Abdu is an ex-convict.

Hamed asks Abdu to set up an apartment where he can meet women and install some cameras inside. Abdu quarrels with Nagwa when he sees her with Hesham and tells her that he went to jail for them.

Rania refuses to get married. Despite Mahrousa and Abdu's objections to their age difference, Nagwa and Hesham tie the knot.

Abdu records his meeting with Hamed and Amin where they ask him to enter an auction on their behalf in exchange for signing some checks. He gives Hamza a copy and blackmails the two men for a bigger share of the money.

Hamza tries to work with Hatem's father. When Abdu starts to earn more money, Mahrousa asks him to dissolve the partnership with Azza. When Azza asks Abdu to announce their marriage, he tells her that Mahrousa wants him to wed another.

When Rania contacts Hamza, her mother hires a guy to beat him and sets a date for her daughter's wedding to another. When Abdu decides to marry Safaa, Azza vows revenge.

Azza attends Abdu and Safaa's wedding to tell the bride that she is Abdu's first wife. Hamza is devastated when Rania gets married. Mahrousa makes Abdu divorce Azza who keeps her pregnancy a secret.

Azza gives birth to a boy that she names Hamza. Nagwa discovers that her husband is cheating on her. Safaa miscarries. Abdu finds out about his son.

When Hesham divorces Nagwa, the businessman Farid asks to marry her. Azza and Abdu get married.

As Azza moves into the villa, Safaa asks for a divorce. Farid asks Abdu for Nagwa's hand. Mahrousa and Azza quarrel. Sayed tells Abdu that he wants to marry Mahrousa.

Abdu beats Sayed and fights with Mahrousa. Hamza reconciles Abdu and Mahrousa. When Rania's husband Walid is stabbed during a fight, Hamza is accused of killing him.

Walid's friends testify against Hamza who gets sentenced to death. As the 25 January Revolution breaks out, Sayed and Abdu break Hamza out of prison. Mahrousa asks them to unite to prove Hamza's innocence.
