After he moves back to his hometown in Kentucky from Miami, hard-headed US Marshal Raylan Givens is tasked with a case that involves a former friend who's turned into a homicidal white supremacist.

As Givens pursues a criminal on the lam who is trying to get to the money he stashed away, it turns out there is someone else who also wants to find the money.

Givens starts investigating the case of a bookmaker who became a police informant, leading to trouble.

As dangerous gangsters from a drug cartel chase a fugitive dentist named Roland Pike, who is trying to cross the border to Mexico with his girlfriend, Givens tries to get to him before they do.

As he sets out to catch an escaped criminal in Harlan County, Raylan Givens attempts to deal with a problem related to his criminal father who reappears in his life.

As Givens seeks the help of an art collector to track down a criminal, he gets enmeshed in the investigation of a murder that is linked to Hitler's artwork. On the other hand, Givens enlists Boyd Crowder's help to find out information about his father.

Following a failed attempt on the lives of Raylan and Ava, Raylan is forced to take on the Crowder family, as he believes that they want revenge against Ava, who is later abducted.

After Givens attempts to resolve a serious situation in which a prisoner holds two guards hostage, he finds out that his connection with Ava might affect the prison sentence of Boyd Crowder.

As Givens gets suspended from work, he sets out to help his ex-wife, who is being intimidated by gangsters, who are after her current husband.

With the life of a quirky judge under threat, Givens takes on the task of protecting him. Meanwhile, Boyd Crowder's newfound faith leads him to ruffle the feathers of the wrong people.

With the life of Arlo, Givens' father, in danger due to his involvement with Bo Crowder, Givens offers Arlo protection, which he rejects. Givens then sets out to implicate Boyd Crowder in a meth lab murder with the help of an unexpected source.

As Givens tries to get Arlo to help him build a case against Bo Crowder, the latter's drug operation is hampered by his son Boyd. Meanwhile, Bo's men try to intimidate Ava, and Givens sleeps with his ex-wife.

The dispute between Bo and Boyd takes a deadly turn, while Bo seeks Arlo's help to get rid of Givens, on orders from the Miami cartel, and abducts Ava, leading to a violent showdown.
